'Egalite’ means, “equality” in French, and is pronounced ‘Ega -li-te’. Our core values come from our name.

E- Equality for all seniors
G- Goodness to our neighbors
A- Accessible Affordable Senior Housing
L- Loving our community
I- Inclusivity for all
T- Teaching others how to treat others
E- Eliminate LGBTQ+ senior living discrimination

At Egalite' Retirement Communities, we provide LGBTQ+ seniors with a safe living space where they can live without judgment, discrimination, and hate. You can be yourself and be comfortable while doing it.

Enjoy drag queen run bingos, mini golf course, beach, pool, night club show stage, sauna gym, multiple bars and restaurants, bowling, movie theater, hair salon, pet grooming, pet walking services, on-site home care services, on-site elder care doctors and mental health professionals, fishing, camping, nature hikes, canoeing, or the year-round skyline car taxi and Ferris wheel, among many other cool amenities that no one else has!

Our first community will be a smaller 55+ resort-style independent living retirement community with a capacity of holding 60 residents. This retirement resort will be made up of 30, small 1 and 2-bedroom tiny houses in a wooded, secure, and quiet residential community, with the lowest buy-in rates and monthly fees in the industry.

All properties will also hold extra tiny houses that will be used for respite short-term stays and for residents to use their buy-in rights in other states where we have communities for a week or so for a home away from home vacation. Our communities will also allow seniors who might be undecided about senior living a trial respite stay.

We also will have extra tiny houses for our board executive visits to our communities. In addition, we want our residents to feel like this is their little community and where they would feel the hospitality they would have at a private vacation resort.

We are a non-profit organization that was formed to help fix missing gaps in the senior living industry, one being affordability, another being access to senior living that caters to the forgotten LGBTQ+ senior living population. Our communities will be run by what our residents want in their community before opening. Residents will vote to add or remove rules in their retirement community every year.

They get to set the culture and have the choice to choose what they want at their community. Many companies say they hold a safe space of living for LGBTQ+ seniors but lack LGBTQ+- focused programming and entertainment for seniors. Our residents will have entertainment and programming that is centered on the LGBTQ+ population.

If they want to have drag queens run bingos, they can. If they want to have go-go dancers in their boxers only dancing at the bar, they can. It's their home and they should be able to do the same things that they would normally do at their home or in their safe spaces out in the community, as long it is safe and legal.

Common questions about our mission and core values.

Why did we choose Massachusetts for our headquarters and the location of our first community will be?

As an organization, we have to make sure our LGBTQ+ senior's rights are not in jeopardy of being taken away due to politically elected leaders. Massachusetts was the first leader in the fight for LGBTQ+ by being the first state to allow same-sex marriages. Not to mention the history of Massachusetts, "The British are coming"- Paul Revere. We feel that from the history of toughness that Massachusetts residents have, our mission will be well fought for and accomplished.

Do we have plans to open up other communities in other states?

Yes, we do have plans to open larger flagship communities in Illinois, and California, among other states.

Do we allow seniors to live in the retirement community if they are not LGBTQ+ seniors?

Yes, one of our core values is "equality for all seniors" and as long as they respect the rules and customs of the retirement community, then all are welcome.

How do we make sure our mission and core values are being represented in our retirement communities?

The way we make sure our mission and core values are always represented in our communities is by having our board of directors experience what our residents do when they are at our retirement communities. We do this by having our board of directors live in the community with the residents while they visit the community.

We feel as an organization that the only way to know if the mission and core values of the organization are still being met in our communities is by living there too. You can't experience the full experience of what our residents experience if we aren't there during the day and night time hours. We will have extra tiny houses built for our board of directors visits.
